Intensity is generally unsustainable over long periods, and whilst hat moment of hyper focus can be helpful, once the intensity diminishes, it can be easily distracted.
Consistency focuses on the discipline of regular sustained effort, that routine and drill ensures sustained and consistent progress over time.
We want to use intensity within consistency, in other words treat intensity as a work state rather than a work style. Whilst constancy is a work style – imagine being able to be consistently intense about completing work.
In order to do this we must rely on the discipline and structure of Consistency as a work style. We should then cycle in intense work periods as well as periods to recuperate, and we should use this as a means of prioritising the focus and content of our work through these cycles of intensity.
As you can see, this is the foundational principles under agile and scrum methodology.
